Folded Carpet Edge

Folded carpet edge. The idea is to weaken the bottom binding. If the straight edge is wide and long enough kneel on it with one knee to hold it down. Then it s just a matter of applying construction adhesive to the strip and pressing it into place overlapping the edges of both the tile and the carpet. Score the bottom of the carpet with an awl along the straight edge. Standing on the carpet near the join pull the edge towards you so the carpet folds over on itself. Before folding the carpet i apply a bead of construction adhesive to the under side of the flap so that the carpet will adhere to itself. Continue to pull the outside edge of the carpet until the fold lies just past the carpet side. After making the fold i sharpen the crease by going over it with a hammer. Put a bead of latex or glue along the edge just a little bit till you get the hang of what you re doing then you can advance to maybe doing a foot at a time.
