A side note to these measurements is that a manufacturer adds a half inch to these measurements giving them plenty of room for installation.

While you can definitely order windows made to custom sizes when you build a home or add new windows you can buy them off the shelf if you have standard sized rough openings which makes for cheap house windows or at least cheaper house windows.
